The Grove - Communication

One thing that greatly contributes to a successful relationship is good communication. If you can't talk to each other, how will you be able to solve problems or express your feelings? So, I suggest that communication be an area where you both work diligently to increase its effectiveness. *s*

Be honest.

Speak as clearly and concisely as you can.

Maintain eye contact.

Don't walk away.

Clear up misunderstandings.

Apologize, if necessary.

Kiss and make up if you do fight. (That's the fun part! *g*)

Read books such as the Mars/Venus series to learn more about communicating.

Try to control any angry feelings so you don't lose control.

Use "I" statements (instead of "you made me feel").

Listen. Pay attention.

Ask for clarification if you don't understand something.

Take a timeout if the discussion is getting nowhere.

When you are done say "thank you for listening to me" or some such sign of gratitude.

And, lastly, but never least, remember to say "I love you".
